Reaching Out to the Community

As a family owned company, we at Scott Robinson Honda understand that there’s more to being a part of a community than running a business. It’s important to reach out and give back to the people who have welcomed us into their lives and allowed us to be their vehicle provider for the last four decades. Ever since Scott and Don Robinson opened their doors with only fifteen employees and a great selection of vehicles, Torrance, CA has welcomed us into the community and given our company a great start.

From day one we’ve done our best to live up that welcome by giving back to the community that has given so much to us. Here’s a sneak peek at a few of the chances Scott Robinson Honda has had over the past few years to reach out to the Torrance and South Bay communities and show our appreciation for the confidence that has been placed in us and has allowed our small family business to thrive.

Switzer Center

The Switzer Center, founded in 1966 by Dr. Janet Switzer, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing special needs students with a personalized academic program in a therapeutic environment, helping them develop the educational competence and psychological well-being that will allow them to thrive as they grow and interact with their peers.

Students at the Switzer Center are able to receive the kind of personal attention and specialized services tailored to their disabilities that aren’t available through public schools, allowing them to reach the same educational milestones as their peers in a fun and challenging environment. We at Scott Robinson Honda are proud to have the opportunity to help these children achieve their dreams.

The South Bay Classic

Every year the South Bay Classic Annual Charity Golf Tournament takes place in Los Angeles to raise funds for our local youth. These funds go toward helping schools provide essential educational programs such as anti-drug campaigns to spread awareness and help prepare students for the challenges they will be facing in the future.

Torrance Memorial Medical Center

The Torrance Memorial Medical Center is an accredited, non-profit medical center dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to the citizens of South Bay and the surrounding communities. Torrance Memorial was South Bay’s first hospital, and its continued growth and expansion have earned it the title of South Bay’s best hospital (according to the Daily Breeze Reader’s Poll), a consistent leader in the National Research Corporation’s annual consumer survey.

City of Hope!

City of Hope National Medical Center is a non-profit facility located in Duarte, CA providing in-patient cancer therapies and the home of the Beckman Research Institute of biomedical research and the City of Hope Graduate School of Biological Sciences. Since its foundation in 1913 City of Hope! has become a leader in translational research, working to find the causes and cures for various forms of cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.

It was at City of Hope that Anissa Ayala of Hacienda Heights, California was received a miracle in the 1990s. Diagnosed with acute leukemia, doctors and researchers were able to use umbilical cord cells from her younger sister Marissa to stop the spread of the leukemia and give Anissa a second chance at life.

Eagle Ridge Camps

Eagle Ridge Camps and Conference center is a Christian camp in the Big Bear Lake area of the San Bernardino mountains striving to share with all campers the opportunity to enrich their relationship with Jesus Christ in a fun, isolated environment. Eagle Ridge inspires campers to build friendships, clear their minds of the pressures they encounter in their daily lives and return refreshed, renewed and re-inspired.

South Bay Police and Fire Memorial Fund

Scott Robinson Honda is proud to be a sponsor of the South Bay Police and Fire Department’s annual golf tournament, with the funds generated going to the families of local police and firemen who have fallen in the line of duty. Through the memorial fund grieving families are given the chance to honor their loved ones one last time, and the community reaches out to remember those men and women who were brave enough to lay their lives on the line day after day “just doing their job”.

Peninsula Education Foundation (Palos Verdes School District)

In an era of slashed budgets and inadequately supplied schools, the Peninsula Education Foundation is a breath of fresh air to students and teachers of the Palos Verdes School District. The foundation exists to supplement the budget of local schools and ensure that students and teachers have the resources they need to enjoy a rich educational experience.

SCROC (Southern California Regional Occupation Center)

In today’s society it can be difficult for teenagers to get started on the right foot in the workforce. The SCROC has been a driving force over the past several years in providing entry-level and advanced job training and employment assistance for high school students (both public and private) and for adults in South Bay and the surrounding communities.

“Today, the wage earner has to be more educated, more technically dependent and more self-reliant than was his/her counterpart 40 years ago,” says the staff at SCROC. Students have the chance to learn these skills through the state of the art technology and classrooms provided through the Southern California Regional Occupational Center, giving them a best-odds chance for success when they step out into the workforce.

Youth Sports

At Scott Robinson Honda we want to help give the children of our community a bright future-but we want them to have a rich childhood as well. For years we have been proud sponsors of Little League and other youth sports for the children of South Bay and the surrounding area, allowing them to learn teamwork, develop vital social skills and, most importantly, have fun.

At Scott Robinson Honda we’re dedicated to making sure that the bottom line isn’t our bottom line, and we’re proud to have had the chance to give back, give hope and personally touch the lives of the people of our community.
